HOME SHELBY  AUTOMOBILES ART INA MAE OVERMAN FAMILY

WWII Navy Surplus Ford Jeep

This was Mom's first "car." She purchased it after WWII from Navy surplus. She didn't know how to drive it. Luckily she met a nice man at the pickup point and he loaded it in the truck he bought and he delivered it to her home. It's so hard to find people like that today.

Mom used a paintbrush to repaint the Jeep red with black fenders. When my parents married, they took it on their honeymoon to visit Dad's family in Kansas. Only the Jeep didn't make it that far. They rolled it outside of Gallup, New Mexico and had to take the bus the rest of the way. They picked it up on their way home after it was repaired.
