Prior to the introduction of the SUV Explorer, Ford came up with the Explorer year-end special edition F100 pickup. They were available in both short and long bed versions. This truck was delivered to the dealer with an all white exterior and a blue interior. Since a blue interior wasn't acceptable to my mother, the dealer swapped it out with a ginger interior from another Explorer. After the purchase, the bed rails were removed, a tool box added, and my husband painted the two color design on the sides and tailgate. The truck was powered by a 300 ci inline 6-cylinder engine. After the truck was sold, the license plate, "FORD SIX," wound up on a 66 GT350.
